Jaguar Land Rover's India EV Plans Stall Amid Supply Chain Challenges

Jaguar Land Rover has canceled plans to build electric vehicles at Tata Motors' $1 billion Tamil Nadu plant in India. The move comes due to issues in procuring locally made EV parts at a competitive price and declining demand for electric vehicles. The action affects Tata's vision for its premium Avinya EV models, which were to use common components with JLR EVs. The factory, set to manufacture more than 250,000 units every year, will continue producing non-EV models. Competition for Tata is growing in the Indian EV sector from players such as JSW MG Motor and Tesla.
