Jalandhar’s civic spirit shone bright this week as the city’s esteemed Jullundur Gymkhana Club made a significant contribution to help flood-affected communities in Punjab. In the wake of the devastating monsoon floods that displaced thousands and disrupted livelihoods across the state, this gesture is being hailed as a timely boost to ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts.
Key Highlights Of The Philanthropic Drive
The Jullundur Gymkhana Club presented a cheque of Rs 11 lakh to Deputy Commissioner Dr Himanshu Aggarwal, earmarked for the Chief Minister’s Rangla Punjab Fund.
The donation ceremony took place under the guidance of Divisional Commissioner Arun Sekhri, also serving as the club’s president, with Club Secretary Sandeep Behl formally handing over the cheque.
Dr Aggarwal lauded the club’s humanitarian initiative, stating that such acts of kindness play a crucial role in rebuilding lives and restoring normalcy in flood-impacted regions.
The latest round of donations also included contributions from other institutions, such as Lyallpur Khalsa College Technical Campus, which handed over Rs 1.51 lakh, and the Northern Region Exporters Forum, which donated Rs 6 lakh for relief activities.
Additional help came from industrialists and social activists Arvind Chopra and Seema Chopra, who made a personal contribution of Rs 5 lakh.
More Hands Join The Cause
Educational campuses, social organisations, and forums across Jalandhar are joining the movement, amplifying the collective impact of relief efforts.
The Deputy Commissioner urged more philanthropists and service-minded citizens to come forward, highlighting that every rupee helps push recovery efforts forward.
The Road To Rebuilding
With Punjab’s flood-hit communities facing ongoing challenges—damaged homes, lost livelihoods, and health risks—the combined support from civic clubs, colleges, and business forums brings both immediate aid and a signal of solidarity.
Local authorities are actively coordinating with donors to ensure that relief money reaches affected families for essentials and long-term restoration.
Simultaneously, appeals are underway for increased community participation to replenish relief funds and supply channels.
The Jullundur Gymkhana Club’s Rs 11 lakh donation isn’t just a sum—it stands as a symbol of unity, resilience, and hope for the people of Punjab during a difficult time.
