Japanese Snow-Shovelling Tours: Unlikely Hit for Chinese Tourists

Chinese tourists are pouring into Japan for a surprise winter sport - snow shovelling. Sapporo, Hokkaido, tour agencies are providing special "Snow Clearing Tours" where visitors can get a firsthand experience of snow removal. The tours cost 250,000 yen (US$1,600) for a group of six and feature rides in snow removal vehicles and actual shovelling experiences. The phenomenon has become a hit on Chinese social media, as most share their snow experiences. The strange phenomenon has been met with controversy, with Japanese internet users complimenting the creative idea while others from China think it is absurd. But for southern Chinese who hardly see snow, it provides a new and cool experience.
