JSW Energy Awaits CCI Approval for KSK Mahanadi Power Acquisition

JSW Energy's ₹15,985 crore acquisition of KSK Mahanadi Power Company has cleared a major hurdle with NCLT Hyderabad's approval on February 14, 2025. However, the deal remains contingent on clearance from the Competition Commission of India (CCI). This strategic move will boost JSW Energy's thermal generation capacity to 7.5 GW and total capacity to 28.2 GW, accelerating its 2030 target of 20 GW. The acquisition includes a 3,600 MW thermal power plant in Chhattisgarh, with 1,800 MW operational and the remainder under construction.
