Khandre Stresses Environmental Education for Children

Karnataka Environment and Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre has directed officials to give top priority to increasing the state's green cover from 20.19% to 33%. As part of this exercise, five crore saplings will be planted across the state and geo-tagged for tracking. Khandre emphasized the need for children to be environmentally conscious, saying, "Environment awareness will be disseminated among children. The task to plant and guard trees is not just limited to the forest department but it is the duty of every citizen." The state will observe "Van Mahotsav," a week-long tree-planting exercise, from July 1 to 7.
