Maha Kumbh 2025: Economic Powerhouse with Environmental Challenges

The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 is proving to be an economic juggernaut, with projected revenues soaring to ₹3 lakh crore, up from initial estimates of ₹2 lakh crore25. With over 50 crore visitors already attending, the event is generating massive employment and boosting local economies. The Uttar Pradesh government has invested ₹7,500 crore in infrastructure improvements. Yet, environmental issues are in the foreground, such as waste disposal, water contamination, and air pollution. Authorities are introducing green solutions like waste segregation and green transport to counter these issues. The economic fallout of the event is likely to add almost 1% to India's GDP5, marking the importance of the event beyond religious significance.
