Maharashtra Mandates Marathi in Government Offices, Boosts Language Promotion

The decision, effective February 3, 2025, applies to local self-government bodies, corporations, and government-aided establishments. Officials violating this rule may face disciplinary action. Additionally, the government has directed the installation of Marathi Devanagari keyboards in all office computers. This initiative aligns with the state's Marathi Language Policy, aimed at preserving and developing the language. Fadnavis has also emphasized the use of AI to showcase Marathi literature and ensure its accessibility for future generations.
