Mandaviya's Bold Prediction: India to Shine Bright at Special Olympics World Winter Games

Union Sports Minister Manuskh Mandaviya was confident that India will break its highest-ever gold medal count at the forthcoming Special Olympics World Winter Games in Turin, Italy. The event to be held from March 7 to 17, 2025, will witness India sending a 49-member contingent with 30 special athletes. The team will be competing in six sports: alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, floorball, short speed skating, snowboarding, and snow shoeing. Mandaviya's optimism is based on India's past record in 2017, where they had taken home 37 gold medals. The minister also commended the sportsmen's enthusiasm and zeal, citing the government's initiatives through national coaching camps and provision of equipment. This year's Games will witness 1,500 sportsmen from 102 nations competing in eight sports disciplines.
