Maruti Suzuki Receives Customs Order: ₹38.14 Million Duty, ₹2.50 Million Fine

Maruti Suzuki India has received an Order-in-Original from the Office of the Commissioner of Customs (Import), Air Cargo Complex, Mumbai, requiring the company to pay ₹38.14 million in differential duty, along with applicable interest, a redemption fine of ₹2.50 million, and a penalty of ₹38.14 million. This order follows a previous show cause notice issued in August 2024, where Maruti Suzuki was asked to justify customs duty exemptions on certain imports. The company has stated that there will be no major impact on its financial or operational activities due to this order and plans to challenge it before the appropriate authority.
