Maruti Suzuki has given its Grand Vitara a bold new look to celebrate a decade of its premium NEXA retail network. The new Phantom Blaq Edition is a limited-run version of the SUV, available only in the top-spec Strong Hybrid Alpha+ variant.
The big talking point is the full matte black finish, paired with gloss black alloy wheels and blacked-out trim in place of the chrome found on the regular model. It’s designed for buyers who want something a little more special and a little more aggressive, without feeling over the top.
Inside and Out
On the outside, the Phantom Blaq keeps the Grand Vitara’s familiar shape but turns down the sparkle with dark, sleek details. The 17-inch alloys are finished in gloss black, the grille is de-chromed, and almost all shiny metal accents are replaced with black, except for the badges and window lining.
The cabin sticks to an all-black theme, with perforated faux leather seats and subtle champagne gold highlights on the dashboard and door trims. All the features you’d expect from the top Alpha+ hybrid are still here — a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree camera, heads-up display, wireless charging, and a Clarion sound system.
Under the Hood
Power comes from the Grand Vitara’s strong hybrid setup — a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined 116 hp. The system is mated to an e-CVT automatic, and fuel efficiency is claimed to be close to 28 km/l. This makes it one of the most frugal SUVs in its segment, especially for city driving.
Why This Edition Exists
NEXA launched in 2015 to give Maruti Suzuki a more premium showroom experience, and the Phantom Blaq is part of the 10-year celebrations. According to the company, it’s aimed at buyers who want a sophisticated and exclusive look along with the practicality and features the Grand Vitara already offers.
Since its launch, the Grand Vitara has crossed 3 lakh sales in just over 2.5 years. With competitors like the Kia Seltos X Line and Skoda Kushaq Carbon Steel Matte offering similar dark-themed editions, the Phantom Blaq helps Maruti stay in that style-focused space.
Bookings and Availability
The Phantom Blaq Edition is available to book now at NEXA dealerships across India. Prices haven’t been officially stated as a separate figure since it’s based on the Alpha+ Strong Hybrid, but expect it to be positioned slightly above the standard version.
If you’ve been eyeing the Grand Vitara and like the idea of a stealthy, feature-packed hybrid SUV that stands out without shouting for attention, this limited edition might be worth a look.
