Max Healthcare Withdraws Petition Against CCI, Responds to Previous Charges of Excessive Pricing

Max Healthcare Institute Ltd has withdrawn its writ petition against an order of the Competition Commission of India (CCI). This comes in the context of a 2015 CCI investigation into charges that Max Super Specialty Hospital in Patparganj, Delhi, had charged excessive prices on disposable syringes. The probe revealed that Max had switched to more expensive "blister pack" syringes, commanding margins of as much as 527%. The CCI report further stated that in-patients were left with no option but to utilize the hospital's pharmacy, giving rise to a "spatial monopoly." Max Healthcare said they are examining the CCI's report and find the allegations to be baseless. The firm was confident in their description of their business operations and continues to assist the CCI investigation.
