Meta Launches Record-Breaking 50,000km Subsea Cable to Power Global AI Revolution

Meta has unveiled Project Waterworth, the world’s longest and most advanced subsea cable network, spanning 50,000 km across five continents. The $2+ billion initiative will connect the U.S., India, Brazil, South Africa, and other regions, prioritizing AI-driven infrastructure and unprecedented connectivity. Featuring 24 fiber pairs and cutting-edge routing, the cable will operate at depths up to 7,000 meters, using AI to predict disruptions and enhance resilience. Meta aims to bolster its digital ecosystem, support AI innovation, and strengthen India’s digital growth, with plans for operational readiness by 2030. This surpasses Meta’s prior 45,000km 2Africa cable, cementing its dominance in global connectivity infrastructure.
