Modi’s Inspection Sparks Hope: Surat Bullet Train Station Sets New Gold Standard

On Saturday, PM Narendra Modi landed in Surat to personally oversee the progress of India’s first bullet train station in the Antroli area. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR) will stretch over 508 km and is one of the country’s flagship infrastructure projects, designed to usher India into the era of high-speed connectivity.

The Surat-Bilimora stretch, around 47 km, has completed civil works and track laying. The design of the Surat station draws inspiration from the city’s famous diamond industry, combining elegance with functionality. The station features spacious waiting lounges, retail outlets, and facilities designed for passenger comfort. Integration with the Surat Metro, local bus services, and Indian Railways will provide seamless multimodal connectivity.

Modi interacted with officials on-site, reviewing construction milestones. With 326 km of viaducts built and 17 of 25 river bridges completed along the route, the project remains on track despite challenges. Upon completion, the bullet train will cut Mumbai-Ahmedabad travel time to around two hours, boosting business, tourism, and regional development.
