The municipal body, with a key shift to the infrastructure landscape in Mumbai, will build an ultra-modern underground parking facility at Haji Ali in south Mumbai. A multi-storey construction, most recently conceived as a two-storey building, has now been replaced with a four-storey facility for a total of 2,000 vehicle parking spaces, including 70 buses. All this is geared up to address the parking woes, especially since Central Park will be constructed on reclaimed coastal road land. Construction work will be initiated by March 2025, and the facility is expected to be ready by 2026. It is part of a bigger initiative to develop underground parking facilities along Mumbai's coastline, with an estimated total cost of Rs 3,000 crore for facilities at Haji Ali, Amarsons Garden, and Worli Seaface.
