Backed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s austerity appeal, realtors’ apex body CREDAI has shifted its flagship annual convention NATCON 2026 from Amsterdam to an Indian city. The move aims to conserve foreign exchange, cut non-essential foreign travel and route the convention’s tourism and hospitality gains to the domestic economy instead.
NATCON 2026, the 23rd edition of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India’s marquee convention, was slated for Amsterdam in August. After the Prime Minister urged citizens and institutions to postpone overseas travel, reduce fuel use and prioritise domestic spending amid West Asia tensions, CREDAI announced it would relocate the event to India.
Decision In Line With PM’s Appeal
CREDAI said the decision is a “strong endorsement” of PM Modi’s recent call to put “nation first” by curbing non-essential foreign trips, conserving foreign exchange and easing pressure on fuel demand during a period of global uncertainty.
The venue shift means that the multi-day convention’s spending on hotels, venues, events and local logistics will now benefit an Indian destination instead of an overseas city.
Developers, Investors And Policymakers
NATCON typically draws more than 1,000 stakeholders, including developers from over 230 city chapters, investors, policymakers, architects, consultants and service providers from across India and overseas.
CREDAI noted that by hosting this ecosystem domestically in 2026, the industry can both deliberate on real estate issues and visibly align with the government’s macroeconomic priorities.
Forex Savings And Domestic Boost
According to CREDAI, moving NATCON home underscores real estate’s willingness to share responsibility in conserving foreign exchange, at a time when India faces higher energy-import bills and regional volatility.
The body added that the decision will also support Indian tourism and hospitality sectors, as thousands of room nights, event spends and ancillary services get redirected to an Indian city.
New Venue Yet To Be Announced
The association will shortly identify and announce the Indian host city and revised programme details for NATCON 2026; past editions have typically been held overseas, with Singapore hosting the previous convention.
CREDAI president Shekhar Patel said the shift is meant to send a clear message that the sector stands with the “nation-first” approach during a challenging global environment.
