Nature's Guardians: PM Leads the Charge in Wildlife Conservation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the 7th National Board for Wildlife meet at Gir National Park, making several important conservation announcements. The first-ever estimation report of riverine dolphins was published, numbering 6,327 in 28 rivers. Asiatic Lion population estimation would be done for the 16th time in 2025, with conservation increased to Barda Wildlife Sanctuary. Cheetah Re-introduction project will be taken up to Gandhisagar Sanctuary and Banni Grasslands. New gharial and Great Indian Bustard projects were announced. Human-wildlife conflict mitigation center will be set up in Coimbatore. PM highlighted the utilization of new-generation technologies for conservation and laid the cornerstone for a National Referral Centre for Wildlife in Junagadh.
