Navi Mumbai Airport's T1 Set to Hit Capacity Before Takeoff: A Record-Breaking Challenge for Greenfield Airports

The yet-to-be-opened Navi Mumbai Airport's Terminal 1 (T1) is projected to reach saturation by mid-2026, marking the fastest saturation for any greenfield airport terminal globally. With an initial capacity of 20 million passengers annually, T1 is set to handle around 10 million flyers from Mumbai's Terminal 1 by October. As air traffic shifts, congestion at the existing Mumbai airport is expected to ease, enhancing overall passenger experience. This rapid growth underscores the urgent need for infrastructure expansion as Navi Mumbai aims to become the primary airport in the region by 2032.
