NEET UG 2026 has come under investigation after the Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) flagged alleged irregularities linked to a centre in the state. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has assured candidates that the exam was conducted under strict security and that genuine aspirants’ efforts will not be devalued.

The latest NEET UG controversy surfaced after the Rajasthan SOG initiated a probe into suspected malpractice around the 3 May 2026 examination. Following media reports on detentions and alleged irregularities, questions were raised about possible paper leaks or organised cheating rackets at local centres. The case has since been escalated to central agencies for independent verification and further action.

NTA’s Official Stand On Exam Integrity

In an official statement, NTA reiterated that NEET UG 2026 was held under full security protocol across all centres, with measures such as biometric verification, AI-assisted CCTV monitoring and GPS-tracked question paper movement. The agency clarified that inputs about alleged malpractice were received on the late evening of 7 May and were escalated to central agencies on the morning of 8 May for investigation. NTA emphasised it will not pre-judge the inquiry and that final facts will be established only by the investigating authorities.

Addressing students and parents, NTA underlined that the integrity and hard work of the vast majority of bona fide aspirants “is not in question and will not be devalued.” Officials have also reaffirmed their commitment to transparency and have promised to share any outcomes or corrective steps in line with due process once the probe concludes. Until then, counselling timelines and result processes are expected to proceed as scheduled, unless directed otherwise by competent authorities.
