Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has unveiled a major financial relief measure for women under the flagship Orunodoi programme. The announcement, made during a Facebook Live session on Women’s Day, will benefit 40 lakh families across Assam, reinforcing the government’s welfare-driven agenda ahead of elections.

Women-Centric Welfare Boost
The Orunodoi scheme, launched in 2020, provides monthly direct benefit transfers of Rs 1,250 to women from low-income households. The upcoming Rs 9,000 transfer represents a consolidated support measure, ensuring immediate financial relief for millions of families.

Statewide Implementation
The funds will be directly credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts at 10:30 am on March 10. Coverage extends across every panchayat and ward in Assam, including Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao, and Bodoland, ensuring inclusivity and broad reach.
