Legendary filmmaker Subhash Ghai recently shared some heartfelt reflections on his incredible 60-year friendship with veteran actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha. Their bond began at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and has truly stood the test of time. Their journey kicked off in the early days of their careers, with their first major collaboration being the 1976 action thriller Kalicharan, which not only marked Ghai’s directorial debut but also launched Sinha into the spotlight as a leading man.
Looking back on their lasting friendship, Ghai fondly remembered a recent dinner at Sinha’s home, where Sinha’s son, Luv, captured the moment with a photograph. “It was such a joyful moment for me last night when Luv Sinha took our picture at my home during dinner with friends,” Ghai shared on social media. “We’ve been close since our FTII days—those tough years in showbiz—and we made our first film, Kalicharan, together. We carved out our own path to success and have remained like family ever since.”
Even though their careers have taken different directions—Sinha venturing into politics while Ghai focused on filmmaking and education—their friendship remains as strong as ever. Ghai described Sinha as “gold by heart but iron rod by his mind,” highlighting the actor’s warmth and resilience. He also reminisced about their journey together, from late-night script discussions to navigating the challenges of the industry, expressing deep gratitude for Sinha’s steadfast support during crucial moments in his career.
Their friendship is a beautiful reminder of the enduring power of shared dreams, mutual respect, and the joy of lifelong companionship in the ever-evolving world of cinema.
