The Maharashtra State Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has launched the "ST Pass Directly to Your School" initiative, ensuring that subsidized bus passes are delivered straight to educational institutions. This move eliminates the need for students to queue at depots or pass centers, saving valuable academic hours.
Under the scheme, students receive a 66.66% concession on ST bus fares, paying only 33.33% of the total fare for a monthly pass. Additionally, all students up to Class 12 are eligible for free passes under the "Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar" scheme, aimed at promoting uninterrupted education.
Previously, students had to visit ST pass centers in groups, often waiting in long lines. Now, MSRTC staff will visit schools and colleges to distribute passes based on student lists provided by institutions. This streamlined process is expected to benefit lakhs of students across Maharashtra, making daily commutes more convenient.
State Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik emphasized that this initiative will reduce administrative hassles and ensure students can focus on their studies without worrying about transportation. The campaign officially kicked off on June 16, marking a significant step toward improving accessibility for students.
