6th Khelo India Winter Games To Begin In Gulmarg On Monday

The Khelo India Winter Games 2026 are set to bring a vibrant sporting atmosphere to Gulmarg, one of India’s premier winter destinations. Organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council, the event will run for four days, attracting athletes from across the country.  

Competitions will span Alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, snowboarding, and ski mountaineering, offering a platform for emerging athletes to demonstrate their skills. The Games are part of the government’s initiative to strengthen India’s winter sports ecosystem and encourage greater participation in disciplines traditionally dominated by colder nations.  

Beyond the sporting spectacle, the Winter Games are expected to provide a significant boost to Gulmarg’s tourism sector. Hotels, local businesses, and adventure operators anticipate increased footfall, highlighting the role of sports in driving regional development and cultural exchange.
