Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the newly constructed memorial stadium in Modakkurichi, Jayaramapuram, Erode district, dedicated to the revered freedom fighter Maaveeran Pollan. The facility includes a full-length statue honoring Pollan, who was a trusted commander of the legendary Dheeran Chinnamalai and sacrificed his life for the motherland in the 18th century. Stalin paid tributes to Pollan’s heirs and highlighted the importance of remembering regional heroes in the state’s freedom struggle.
Beyond the memorial, Stalin unveiled 790 completed development projects in Erode, including a Rs 235.73-crore solar-powered bus stand aimed at enhancing sustainable transportation. He also laid foundation stones for 23 new projects worth Rs 91.9 crore and distributed welfare assistance amounting to Rs 605.44 crore to over 1.8 lakh beneficiaries, focusing on inclusive growth in the district.
Addressing the gathering, Stalin reiterated his government’s commitment to social justice and equality, referencing progress such as internal reservations and infrastructure investments benefiting marginalized communities. He urged citizens to ensure their names are correctly listed on electoral rolls ahead of upcoming elections, emphasizing democratic participation.
