AI Talks in Parliament: Sansad Bhashini Breaks Language Barriers with MeitY

India's Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) and the Lok Sabha Secretariat have collaborated to launch Sansad Bhashini, an AI-centric platform aimed at parliamentation of procedures. The platform, which was launched on March 18, 2025, will integrate AI-enabled facilities for multilingual assistance, real-time transcription, and accessible information.

Key features:

•AI-enabled Translation: Speeches delivered at the Parliament building, agenda documents, and committee meetings will be translated into the local languages of the country.

•⁠  ⁠Interactive Chatbot: Procedural rules and documents available to MPs in real time.

•⁠  ⁠Speech-to-Text Conversion: Real-time transcription of Indian language debates for improved documentation.

The project aligns with India's broader AI goals under the IndiaAI Mission, increasing inclusivity and governance efficiency. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla emphasized its potential to provide all citizens access to parliamentary proceedings.
