In a landmark moment for India’s aerospace sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron jointly unveiled the H125 helicopter final assembly line (FAL) in Vemagal, Karnataka. The project, developed through a joint venture between Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL) and Airbus Helicopters, marks India’s first private-sector helicopter assembly facility.
The H125, known for its ability to operate in “high and hot” environments, including landing on Mount Everest, is expected to play a crucial role in India’s high-altitude defence operations in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh. The assembly line will not only strengthen India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat mission but also deepen Indo-French strategic defence cooperation.
French Defence Minister Catherine Vautrin attended the inauguration, underscoring the importance of bilateral collaboration in aerospace manufacturing.
