Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone is set to join forces with Telugu icon Allu Arjun for director Atlee’s much-anticipated action entertainer, tentatively titled ‘AA22×A6’. Sources from the industry have stated that Deepika, along with Mrunal Thakur and Janhvi Kapoor, is lined up as one of the leads, in the Allu Arjun-starrer produced by Sun Pictures, which is expected to start shooting in June.
Deepika's pairing with Allu Arjun is exciting news for fans, and it marks the first time the two actors have appeared together on-screen. Reports that describe the film as a futuristic action thriller, are being filmed with a rumored budget of ₹700-800 crore, which is setting records as one of the most expensive Indian films currently in production. Arjun is reportedly gearing up for an intense, physically grueling triple role in the film, while Deepika Padukone will achieve a look once again, that is just for the film and that fits the script.
The film's pre-production and look tests are currently going on, one of which included a concept shoot already at Mehboob Studios, Mumbai. An official announcement from the makers is awaited, however, sources indicate Deepika agreed to be a part of the film. Deepika and director Atlee had discussions and finalized the deal over several months. The film is expected to go on floors by July or August and ultimately will be released by late 2026. Deepika's signing comes amid her departure from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's unlikely film 'Spirit', which will be her next major south Indian film after a successful last couple of years in Bollywood and southern Telugu cinema. Atlee's pan-India appeal, Allu Arjun's star power, and the Bollywood star's return to the Telugu Film industry all makes 'AA22×A6' one of the most-anticipated and discussed releases in the coming few years.
