Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially resumed the stalled Amaravati capital project, a milestone moment in Andhra Pradesh's development. Modi on May 2 inaugurated 74 projects worth ₹49,000 crore in Amaravati-including the Assembly, Secretariat, High Court, judicial quarters, and housing for 5,200 families-as part of a total ₹58,000 crore investment in the state.
The revival, alongside CM Chandrababu Naidu, signals renewed Centre-State cooperation after years of uncertainty and political delays. Amaravati’s transformation includes world-class infrastructure: a 320-km transport network, underground utilities, advanced flood management, and a unique land pooling model involving local farmers.
Modi called Amaravati "a dream taking shape" and promised central support to make it a center of IT, AI, green energy, and education to fulfill Andhra's aspirations and infuse vigor into the vision of a "Viksit Bharat".
