In a strategic show of friendship and maritime cooperation, four Indian Navy ships are set to make a port call in Manila this July, marking a significant moment in India–Philippines defense relations. The visit, announced by Indian Ambassador Shri Harsh Kumar Jain on July 12, 2025, underscores both nations’ commitment to a free, open, and rules-based Indo-Pacific.

The ships will engage in bilateral cooperation activities with the Philippine Navy, including joint exercises, military exchanges, and capacity-building programs.

The visit coincides with the 9th anniversary of the 2016 Arbitral Award, reinforcing shared values around freedom of navigation and international maritime law.

India has expressed readiness to support the Philippines’ defense modernization, offering platforms beyond the BrahMos missile systems, including air defense, surveillance, and disaster response capabilities.
