Andheri West residents of Mumbai can expect a major water supply disruption on Thursday, June 19, when the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) carries out temporary valve repair work. The 11-hour shutdown forms part of a crucial infrastructural upgrade that will enhance long-term water distribution efficiency.

Critical Update

Water supply will be cut off from 2 PM on June 19 to 1 AM on June 20.

The shutdown is due to the replacement of a 1,350 mm flow control valve on the Bandra water main and a 900 mm butterfly valve on the Versova line, both located under the Gopal Krishna Gokhale Bridge.

Affected Areas

Parle West: Lallubhai Udyan, Lohia Nagar, Parle Gaonthan

Moragaon: Juhu Gavthan Nos. 1 and 2

Civic Advisory

The citizens are asked to keep sufficient water in advance and stretch it during the outage.

The BMC emphasized that this temporary inconvenience is necessary for future system reliability and safety.

Infrastructure Insight

This maintenance is part of a broader effort to modernize Mumbai’s aging water network and reduce unplanned outages. While the disruption may cause short-term discomfort, it’s a step toward a more resilient urban water system.
