Andhra Pradesh is fast emerging as India’s next solar manufacturing powerhouse, with Jupiter Renewables announcing a ₹2,700 crore investment for a state-of-the-art solar cell and module facility in Anakapalli district. This bold move not only cements the state’s leadership in the renewable energy race but also aligns with its ambitious target to attract ₹10 lakh crore in clean energy investments and create 7.5 lakh jobs.

Key Highlights:
  • Mega Investment: Jupiter Renewables, a subsidiary of Kolkata-based Jupiter International, will set up a 4.8 GW solar photovoltaic (PV) cell and 1.5 GW module manufacturing facility across 142 acres, making it the third major solar manufacturer to bet big on Andhra Pradesh. The project will be rolled out in two phases, with Phase-1 (2.4 GW cell + 1.5 GW module) operational by March 2026 and Phase-2 (2.4 GW cell) by July 2026, generating over 2,200 jobs.
  • Incentives & Support: The state government has offered a special package, including land at concessional rates, a 50% capital subsidy on building and machinery, decarbonization subsidies, full stamp duty reimbursement, and discounted power tariffs for a decade. These incentives are designed to attract more manufacturers and leverage upcoming non-tariff barriers favoring domestic solar production.
  • Strategic Vision: Andhra Pradesh’s Clean Energy Policy 2024–29 targets 72.6 GW of new renewable capacity, with 40 GW from solar. The state is also pushing for 20 lakh rooftop solar installations by 2025 and is in talks with other leading solar manufacturers for further investments.
  • National Impact: The surge in solar manufacturing, supported by India’s new rules mandating local solar cells in government projects from June 2026, positions Andhra Pradesh as a key player in reducing reliance on imports and boosting the country’s export potential.
With Jupiter’s mega investment and aggressive state policies, Andhra Pradesh is set to shine as a national leader in solar manufacturing and clean energy innovation.
