Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) at WAVES 2025, transforming Mumbai into a content creation hub of the world. Backed by ₹400 crore of PM Modi and land from Maharashtra, IICT will train creators in AVGC-XR (Animation, VFX, Gaming, Comics, Extended Reality) in association with NVIDIA, Google, Apple, Microsoft, Adobe, and Meta as partner organizations.
Key features:
Phase 1: Placed in NFDC Building, Pedder Road with game development laboratories, virtual production spaces, and experience studios.
Phase 2: 10-acre Film City campus in Goregaon for adding R&D and incubation.
Global partnership: Curriculum and technology support by global leaders to develop "future-proofed" professionals.
Vaishnaw discussed India's 40 million creatives and WAVES in the context of bridging the global creative landscape.
