India had a strong beginning at the Asian Athletics Championships 2025 in Gumi, South Korea, as Gulveer Singh won the country's first gold in the men's 10,000m. Whereas Servin Sebastian contributed a bronze in the men's 20km race walk, Asian Games champion Annu Rani missed a medal in the women's javelin throw by a whisker, coming fourth. The first day provided a positive start for India's 58-member team as they seek to break their past medal count.
	 
	Gulveer Singh's Golden Run

		Gulveer Singh took gold in the men's 10,000m in 28:38.63, beating Japan's Mebuki Suzuki (28:43.84) and Bahrain's Albert Kibichi Rop (28:46.82).

		It was Gulveer's first gold at the Asian Championships and his second medal there, as he had won bronze in the 5000m in 2023.

		Singh is also the national record holder in the 3000m, 5000m, and 10,000m.

		He will also take part in the 5000m race later during the championship.
	Servin Sebastian Adds to Medal Count

		Servin Sebastian won bronze in men's 20km race walk with a personal best of 1:21:14.

	Annu Rani Falls Short of Javelin Medal
