The BCCI is taking a cautious approach to Jasprit Bumrah's comeback, much like in the case of Hardik Pandya in 2023. Bumrah, who has been out since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy due to a back injury, has started rehabilitation at the NCA in Bengaluru. His program comprises gym work and light bowling.
With the squad deadline of February 11, the BCCI is willing to wait literally till the last moment, considering even a partially-fit Bumrah. Replacements will be made, if necessary, much later through the Event Technical Committee of the ICC. Meanwhile, India is trying out backups like Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy in the current England ODI series.
