At 70, Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group, is proving that age is just a number—and wellness is a mindset. In a widely appreciated social media post, Mahindra shared his weekly fitness routine, emphasizing balance, mindfulness, and consistency over intensity.
"I'm no fitness guru," he responded, "but I vary my weekly workout routine between cardio-vascular (swimming/ellipticals), muscle tone (weights), and stretching (yoga). But the most important part of my daily health practice is 20 minutes of meditation every morning."
His holistic strategy blends physical strength with mental sharpness—something wellness experts say is crucial for longevity and vitality in advanced age. Varun Rattan, a fitness trainer, also contributed that resistance training is too often overlooked by older adults, although it also adds up to bone density, independence, and brain health. He also stressed the role of low-impact cardiovascular exercise and yoga in joint stability and balance.
Mahindra's message is one that resonates in the era of digital exhaustion and couch-potato existence. His daily routine is a reminder that wellness is not an extreme—it is about practices that are sustainable and that nourish body and mind.
