Bondada Engineering Ltd (BSE: BOND.BO) has entered into a record ₹8.6 billion contract with the Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Ltd (TNGECL) to commission 400 MWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The biggest energy storage order secured by the company and a key milestone towards India's clean energy transition.

1. Project Size and Locations
  • The project involves the establishment of standalone grid-scale BESS installations at Thennampatty and Vellalaviduthi within Tamil Nadu.
  • It will be executed on a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) basis, with Bondada securing the project on a competitive tender basis.
2. Strategic Significance
  • The system will allow for two full charge-discharge cycles on a daily basis, helping counter renewable energy intermittency and contribute 24x7 grid stability.
  • Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd (TANGEDCO) will be buying storage services from Bondada through a 12-year purchase order.
  • The project is India's NFESS-conforming and Tamil Nadu's 50% renewables by 2030 goal-confirming.
3. Company Milestone
  • The 400 MWh project follows on the success of a 100 MWh BESS project that Bondada has executed in Telangana.
  • The company has 800 MW of commissioned solar projects and 2.3 GW of under execution renewable EPC projects, which add further strength to its green energy division.
