Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. has taken a significant step in its green energy transition by awarding contracts for two wind energy projects totaling 100 MW. The projects, split into two 50 MW wind farms, have been awarded to Suzlon Energy Ltd. and Integrum Energy Infrastructure Ltd., reinforcing BPCL’s commitment to renewable energy expansion.
Suzlon Energy will develop the wind power project in Madhya Pradesh, while Integrum Energy Infra will oversee the Maharashtra project. These wind farms are expected to provide captive renewable power to BPCL’s flagship refineries in Bina and Mumbai, significantly reducing their carbon footprint and reliance on fossil fuels.
BPCL has outlined an ambitious renewable energy roadmap, aiming to develop a 10 GW clean energy portfolio by 2040. The company’s long-term strategy aligns with its goal of achieving net-zero emissions in Scope 1 and Scope 2 categories by the same year. The newly awarded wind projects are expected to be completed and commissioned within two years.
The announcement has generated positive market sentiment, with shares of Suzlon Energy seeing a slight uptick following the contract win. BPCL’s continued investment in clean energy underscores its commitment to sustainability and India’s broader renewable energy ambitions.
