The Cayman Islands premier has signalled plans to sign a separate pact with India’s International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) at GIFT City to enable regulatory exchange of information. The proposed framework would deepen cross-border cooperation, bolster transparency and make it easier for global funds to operate across both jurisdictions.
Building a Compliance Highway Between Cayman and GIFT IFSC
During engagements around financial-sector collaboration, the Cayman Islands’ leadership indicated interest in a dedicated information-sharing and regulatory cooperation agreement with IFSCA, which oversees India’s GIFT International Financial Services Centre. Such a pact would sit alongside Cayman’s existing network of tax and regulatory cooperation agreements, and complement IFSCA’s participation in global frameworks like IOSCO’s multilateral MoU on information exchange.
For GIFT City, a direct regulatory line to Cayman—home to a large universe of global funds and structured finance vehicles—could ease due diligence, KYC, tax transparency and supervision of cross-border entities. For Cayman, closer links with India’s fast-growing IFSC would support diversified capital flows and signal alignment with evolving global compliance norms.
