In a historic step to hasten industrial growth, the Chhattisgarh government has sanctioned the allotment of 100 acres of land to BEML Limited (formerly Bharat Earth Movers Limited) for setting up a world-class heavy earth moving equipment manufacturing facility near Bilaspur, Champa. This decision, made at a recent cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, heralds a new age for the state's industrial sector.
Major Points
The land, leased at a symbolic rate, has been allocated to generate local employment and encourage micro and small industries in the state.
BEML's new plant will manufacture high-performance dump trucks, water sprinklers, and motor graders, which will target the rapidly growing mining and infrastructure industries.
The project will create thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities, reinforcing the local supply base and augmenting economic prosperity in rural and urban regions.
The initiative is consistent with Chhattisgarh's new Industrial Policy 2024-30, focusing on investor-friendly reforms, ease of approvals through a Single Window System, and sops such as 30-50% subsidy, tax relief, and training grants.
BEML's expansion is a result of direct follow-up investment promotion by the state, such as the official invite given to BEML at the recent Investor Connect event in Bengaluru.
The project is a part of an overall thrust that has resulted in Chhattisgarh drawing more than ₹1.63 lakh crore of new investments in FY2025, placing the state among India's top ten investment destinations.
This development not only establishes Chhattisgarh as a rising industrial powerhouse but also signifies a key move toward local self-reliance and economic transformation.
