Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd (DFPCL) has expanded its international mining operations by increasing its stake in Platinum Blasting Services Pty Ltd (PBS) from 65% to 85% for 11.78 million AUD (₹64.11 crore). The transaction, finalized on February 17, 2025, aligns with DFPCL’s strategy to transition from commodity-focused operations to integrated mining solutions. PBS, a key player in Australia’s 2-million-tonne technical ammonium nitrate (TAN) market, will bolster DFPCL’s global explosives and blasting services portfolio.
This acquisition, validated by a Big Four Australian accounting firm’s earnings-based valuation, strengthens DFPCL’s position amid rising demand from India’s coal, infrastructure, and power sectors. The move follows DFPCL’s recent commissioning of a 629 KTPA TAN plant in Odisha and underscores its commitment to backward integration and global market leadership.
