The Delhi government has widened the scope of Ayushman Bharat -Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) by including beneficiaries of widow pension and disability assistance schemes. This landmark decision, taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, will bring nearly 5.5 lakh additional families under the ambit of cashless healthcare coverage.
According to official sources, approximately 3.97 lakh widows and 1.31 lakh persons with disabilities (Divyang) receiving state pensions will now be eligible for Ayushman Bharat benefits, along with their families. The scheme provides cashless hospitalization up to ₹5 lakh per family per year at empanelled hospitals across India.
