The committee is headed by the Secretary of the Information Technology Department, with members including a Delhi Police officer and a special secretary from the Home Department. Experts from IIT Delhi and other institutions will assist in shaping the framework.
Officials confirmed that the panel will study drone policies from states such as Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand to replicate best practices. The policy will address critical issues such as airspace regulation, security protocols, licensing, and commercial applications.
Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena directed the move, emphasizing the need to balance public safety with technological advancement. With drones increasingly used in logistics, surveillance, agriculture, and emergency response, the policy aims to provide clarity for businesses and individuals while ensuring strict compliance with national aviation guidelines.
