Delhi is preparing for a technological transformation in vocational education, committing Rs 170 crore to modernize its Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). Announced by Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, this ambitious project focuses on skilling youth in advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and electric mobility (E-mobility), aiming to bridge the divide between academic learning and fast-evolving industry needs.
Key Highlights of the Modernization Drive
The project involves the complete revamp of facilities, curricula, and trainer capabilities in Delhi’s ITIs, aligning vocational education with the urgent demands of India’s digital and automation sectors.
Funds will support the creation of smart classrooms, advanced AI labs, robotics training workshops, and state-of-the-art E-mobility modules, reflecting global trends in industry and transportation.
Industry partnerships will drive curriculum reform, introducing real-world projects, internships, and manufacturing-linked training to ensure greater employability.
A special emphasis is placed on women’s participation in upcoming tech fields, with policies to encourage enrollment and engagement.
