Assam has come a long way in economic development by inking 14 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in the mining industry at the 3rd edition of the Minerals & Mining Conclave 2025, organized by ASSOCHAM. The historic meet puts Assam in the forefront of India's mineral future, with over ₹46,000 crore worth of investment commitments from national and international investors.

Key Highlights 14 MoUs Signed: All of the agreements are mining and mineral exploration related, for Assam's huge deposits of critical minerals and rare earths.

Massive Investment: The MoUs together mean over ₹46,000 crore, one of the largest investment waves the state has ever witnessed.

Limestone Auctions: Assam launched the auction of seven limestone blocks at Umrangso, five of which have been auctioned and operationalization targeted by the end of the year.

Policy Push: The state government sanctioned the setting up of the Assam State Mineral Trust to ensure sustainable mining and benefit the local communities.

Inclusive Growth: Emphasis on social schemes under Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY), such as education, drinking water, sanitation, and welfare of women.

National Focus: The Centre reiterated unstinted support for Assam's mining master plan, emphasizing the strategic location of the Northeast in India's energy security.

Future Mineral Policy: Assam's new policy is in the final lap and will be implemented with immediate effect, with the promise of a more investor-conducive atmosphere.

Generation of Employment: The investments will generate thousands of jobs and create skill development across the region.

With peace restored in Assam after decades, the state is now poised to unlock its mineral wealth to be a growth engine, a hub of sustainability, and opportunity.
