Government integrates Passport Verification Record (PVR) access into DigiLocker, enabling citizens to securely retrieve passport details digitally without physical copies or office visits. Launched by MeitY with MEA and NeGD, this boosts paperless governance for jobs, visas, and renewals under Digital India vision.
The Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), via National e-Governance Division (NeGD) and Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), rolled out PVR access in DigiLocker on Dec 3, 2025. Users can now pull tamper-proof digital records via app or web, slashing paperwork for passport issuance, renewals, police checks, and visa processes. This enhances DigiLocker's role as a unified digital wallet alongside Aadhaar, PAN, and licenses.
