While termed ‘Final’, this compensation order pertains only to two specific components: the Geological Report (GR) cost and the hard cost components of shafts and inclines. The Ministry of Coal has yet to decide on compensation involving the land and soft cost elements, which remain open for further determination.
From a financial perspective, the partial final compensation ordered is ₹253.04 crores. Additionally, an amount of ₹34.56 crores related to an updated Geological Report is pending mutual settlement between Electrosteel Castings and JSW after verification. In total, the quantum of claims related to GR cost and hard cost components stands at ₹287.60 crores, which will have a material impact on ECL’s financial statements.
