Electrosteel Castings Limited has received a partial final compensation order of ₹253.04 crores from the Ministry of Coal for Geological Report and hard cost components related to Parbatpur Coal Mine. Land and soft cost components remain pending, with total compensation claims at ₹287.60 crores.

Electrosteel Castings Limited (ECL) announced a significant milestone in its ongoing compensation dispute with the Ministry of Coal, Government of India. On November 20, 2025, the company received a Final Compensation Order dated November 19, 2025, which addresses partial settlement for costs related to its Parbatpur Coal Mine.

While termed ‘Final’, this compensation order pertains only to two specific components: the Geological Report (GR) cost and the hard cost components of shafts and inclines. The Ministry of Coal has yet to decide on compensation involving the land and soft cost elements, which remain open for further determination.

From a financial perspective, the partial final compensation ordered is ₹253.04 crores. Additionally, an amount of ₹34.56 crores related to an updated Geological Report is pending mutual settlement between Electrosteel Castings and JSW after verification. In total, the quantum of claims related to GR cost and hard cost components stands at ₹287.60 crores, which will have a material impact on ECL’s financial statements.

Investors should note that this partial order is a crucial step forward but not the final resolution. The outcome of pending land and soft cost components will influence the overall compensation value. Electrosteel Castings continues to actively engage with the Ministry to bring closure on this matter.
