On International Women's Day, vivo India launched its country-wide campaign, vivo KanyaGyaan, that aims to educate and empower young women belonging to underprivileged segments to enter professions in the areas of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The initiative extends scholarships, mentorship, skills training, and industry interface for filling the gap between the two genders in STEM sectors.
Currently supporting 150 women—60% from families with annual incomes less than ₹1 lakh and 15% raised by single parents—the program is focused on creating first-generation graduates and enhancing workforce diversity. A digital campaign created by FCB India communicates the struggles and aspirations of these women, using the "carrying their own chairs" metaphor to symbolize determination and empowerment.
Geetaj Channana, head of strategy at vivo India, emphasized that empowering women in STEM is crucial to bring about societal development. The project has the potential to ignite a larger movement for science and technology innovation and equity.
