Seiko Epson Corporation has inaugurated its first ink tank printer manufacturing facility in India, marking a major milestone in its global expansion strategy. Located in Sriperumbudur near Chennai, the plant was developed in partnership with RIKUN and will begin operations in October 2025, initially producing the company’s flagship EcoTank printers.

The move aligns with the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, aiming to reduce import dependency and enhance supply chain agility. The facility will cater exclusively to the Indian market, where Epson has already sold over 8 million EcoTank units, contributing to a global total of 100 million+.

Epson’s global president Junkichi Yoshida called the launch a “historic occasion,” emphasizing India’s role in Epson’s growth due to its youthful population, digital progress, and economic momentum. The plant is expected to produce 20,000 printers per month, create 200 direct jobs, and eventually scale up to include other products.
