Flipkart responded after recent Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) raids on its warehouses, underlining its compliance focus and seller guidance. The country's largest e-commerce firm said it has "a number of processes to review listings sellers create on the marketplace, and also performs regular audits to ensure compliance."
In response to the seizure of non-BIS certified products, such as toys, stainless steel bottles, and speakers, Flipkart restated its position as a marketplace, stating, "We work with sellers to drive awareness and to comply with all applicable laws."
This follows BIS raids on March 20, 2025, at Flipkart's Gurugram warehouse, managed by Instakart Services Pvt Ltd, where officials confiscated 534 stainless steel bottles, 134 toys, and 41 speakers that were not BIS certified.
The raids, as part of a larger crackdown on e-commerce sites, have also been aimed at Amazon warehouses, underlining the government's emphasis on quality control regulation in online shopping.
