The K'ómoks First Nation's treaty ratification vote is scheduled for today, and according to the judge's ruling, the injunction application against it has been dismissed. Eligible voters will cast their ballots at the K'ómoks Administration building from noon until 8 PM to decide on the K'ómoks Treaty and Constitution. The vote has a double majority requirement: it needs both over a half of the eligible voters to participate and more than 50% of the participation to vote in favor. If successful, this would be a crucial step in the road toward selfgovernance for the K'ómoks First Nation, with the treaty likely to be implemented in 2028. For the indigenous community, this special day comes with numerous on-site activities.
