Dream11 has announced a decisive pivot from real-money fantasy gaming to a “second-screen” sports entertainment platform, built around creator-led live watch-alongs, fan interactions and free-to-play formats. The revamped, globally available app aims to deepen engagement with live sports while navigating India’s tougher online gaming regulations and unlocking new creator-led revenue streams.
New Sports Entertainment Play
Dream11, part of Dream Sports, is repositioning itself as a social, interactive destination that complements live sports broadcasts rather than a pure fantasy gaming app. The platform will host creator-led watch-alongs where fans can react, banter and engage through polls, quizzes and free-to-play fantasy contests while following integrated scorecards and real-time stats.
The shift follows India’s clampdown on real-money online gaming, which forced Dream11 to shut paid contests and explore ad, sponsorship and micro-payment models. Co-founder and CEO Harsh Jain says the goal is to ensure “no sports fan watches a match alone” by turning Dream11 into a global hub for community-led sports experiences across its 250 million-strong user base.
